Focus and Scope

PHI IUSTITIA: Journal of Law and Multidisciplinary Studies is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal with Law as its central discipline. The journal publishes original research that examines the legal, regulatory, and policy dimensions of contemporary issues across the following interrelated fields of study:

  1. Law (core focus). Criminal law, civil law, procedural law (criminal, civil, and administrative), constitutional law, administrative law, international law, business and economic law, investment and international trade law, bankruptcy and business restructuring law, tax law, labor law, environmental law, energy and natural resources law, agrarian and land law, health law, consumer protection law, information technology and cyber law, intellectual property law, maritime and aviation law, family and inheritance law, human rights and constitutional rights law, customary law, Islamic law/Islamic economic law, as well as legal aid and access to justice.
  2. Social Sciences and Humanities (in relation to law, policy, and governance). Sociology of law, political science, international relations, communication studies, social psychology, education, history, and philosophy, insofar as the analysis engages with legal, regulatory, or governance dimensions of the subject matter.
  3. Economics and Business (Economic and Business Law Perspective). Development economics, Islamic economics, management, accounting, public finance, fiscal policy, and digital economy, examined through the lens of economic law, business regulation, or fiscal and trade policy.
  4. Applied Engineering and Technical Sciences (Regulatory and Policy Perspective).  (1) civil engineering and public infrastructure; (2) electrical engineering and power systems; (3) industrial, mechanical, and manufacturing process engineering; (4) environmental engineering and waste management; (5) mining, energy, and natural resource engineering; (6) computer engineering and software development; and (7) architecture and urban-regional planning — provided the manuscript explicitly addresses the technical standards, licensing, certification, safety regulation, intellectual property, or public policy dimensions of the subject, rather than presenting purely technical findings without a regulatory or legal dimension.
  5. Public Policy and Governance. Public administration, governance, decentralization and regional autonomy, bureaucratic reform, public service delivery, forestry policy and forest community studies, environmental policy, and energy policy.
  6. Medicine and Health Sciences (Legal and Policy Perspective). This section is limited to seven areas of highest relevance to regulation and broad public, academic, and professional interest: (1) health law and medical regulation; (2) medical ethics and bioethics; (3) hospital systems and management; (4) pharmaceutical regulation; (5) public health and health policy; (6) forensic medicine and medico-legal studies; and (7) digital health and telemedicine regulation — provided the manuscript explicitly engages with the legal, ethical, or policy dimensions of the clinical or health-system issue under discussion.

Manuscripts submitted under fields 4 and 6 above are expected to explicitly integrate legal, regulatory, ethical, or public-policy analysis as a substantive part of the discussion. Manuscripts that present purely technical, clinical, or laboratory findings without such an analytical linkage to law, regulation, or policy fall outside the scope of this journal and will not be considered for review.
