Author Guidelines

PHI IUSTITIA: Journal of Law and Multidisciplinary Studies invites the submission of original, unpublished manuscripts that have not been submitted to any other journal for consideration. All submissions are first assessed by the editorial team to determine their fit with the journal's Focus and Scope — in particular, manuscripts under the Applied Engineering and Technical Sciences or Medicine and Health Sciences sections must explicitly integrate legal, regulatory, ethical, or public-policy analysis; manuscripts presenting purely technical, clinical, or laboratory findings without such linkage will be desk-rejected. Manuscripts considered a good fit will proceed to a double-blind peer-review process involving at least two reviewers with relevant expertise, in accordance with the journal's Peer Review Process.

1. Manuscript Length and Language

• Maximum 20 pages, A4 paper size, normal margins of 2.54 cm on all sides, in accordance with the official article template.
• Body text in Times New Roman 11pt; title in bold sentence case 14pt; author names 11pt; affiliations 9pt; abstract 10pt.
• Written in Indonesian or English, using formal, clear, and objective academic language.
• English-language manuscripts are encouraged to be checked with a grammar tool (e.g., Grammarly) prior to submission.

2. Manuscript Structure (following the official template)

• Title — the fewest possible words accurately describing the paper's content.
• Author name(s), institutional affiliation(s), and correspondence email; authors are additionally required to provide an active ORCID iD in the OJS submission metadata.
• Abstract (100–200 words, written in the past tense, self-explanatory, with no citations) and 5–6 keywords.
• INTRODUCTION — research background, objectives, and contribution, plus a literature review establishing novelty, prioritizing references from the last 10 years.
• RESEARCH METHODS — research type, population/sample or subject, and data analysis technique; for legal research, specify the type of legal research (normative/doctrinal or empirical/socio-legal).
• RESULTS AND DISCUSSION — findings supported by processed data (tables/figures numbered sequentially), discussion linking findings to underlying concepts/hypotheses, and comparison with prior studies.
• For manuscripts under the Applied Engineering and Technical Sciences or Medicine and Health Sciences sections: the official template does not permit additional sub-headings within Results and Discussion, so this requirement must be fulfilled within the narrative itself — the discussion must explicitly address the legal, regulatory, ethical, or public-policy implications of the findings (e.g., relevant laws, technical standards, licensing, certification, safety requirements, or public policy) as an integral part of the discussion, not as a separate heading.
• CONCLUSION — concise and clear, not divided into sub-points.
• REFERENCES — see Section 4 below.
• All submissions must strictly follow the official article template (Template Article.docx), available for download on the journal's About page.

3. Formatting

• A4 paper size, Times New Roman, normal margin format of 2.54 cm x 2.54 cm.
• Tables: centered, Times New Roman 8–11pt, no vertical lines, horizontal lines only at the header and bottom row; numbered continuously with a bold, capitalized title above the table.
• Figures: black-and-white, professionally presented, numbered continuously with a bold, capitalized title below the figure.
• Foreign words or terms must be italicized.

4. References and Citation Style

• A minimum of 15 references is required, with at least 80% sourced from primary sources (preferably SINTA/Scopus-indexed journal articles) published within the last 10 years.
• References follow the APA 7th edition style using in-text (bodynote) citations, and authors are strongly encouraged to manage citations using Mendeley, EndNote, Reference Manager, or Zotero.
• Citations to statutes, regulations, and court decisions are cited in-text following the same bodynote convention (e.g., the name/number of the legal instrument and year) and integrated alphabetically into the single reference list — per the official template, the reference list must NOT be divided into separate sections or subheadings.
• Excessive self-citation and citation to non-scholarly sources (blogs, Wikipedia, unpublished student theses) should be avoided.

5. Originality, Ethics, and Similarity Check

• Manuscripts must be free from plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and duplicate/redundant publication.
• A similarity report (Turnitin or equivalent) with a maximum similarity index of 20% must be attached at submission.
• Research involving human participants, animal subjects, or sensitive personal data must include a statement of ethical clearance/approval from the relevant institutional ethics committee.
• Authors must disclose any conflict of interest and the source of research funding, if any.
• The journal follows the publication ethics principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

6. Desk Rejection Criteria

The Editor-in-Chief may desk-reject a manuscript without peer review if it: (a) falls outside the journal's Focus and Scope; (b) exceeds the maximum similarity index; (c) fails to meet the minimum structural, length, or formatting requirements above; (d) is written in poor academic language that substantially impedes comprehension; or (e) is a purely technical/clinical manuscript under Sections 4 or 6 without any legal, regulatory, or policy analysis.
